Grip (Grip #1) by Kennedy Ryan

Contemporary New Adult

No Cliffhanger
POV: Dual
Heat Level: Moderate
HEA

Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out. I know. I’ve been doing it for years.

I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I’ve got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary. And Marlon James – Grip to his fans – is nothing short of extraordinary.

Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I’ve thrown away the key. All that’s left is friendship and work.

He’s on the verge of unimaginable fame, all his dreams poised to come true. I manage his career, but I can’t seem to manage my heart.

It’s wild, reckless, disobedient. And it remembers all the things I want to forget.

♦♦♦ My Thoughts ♦♦♦

This was such a fantastic read! It was sexy romance with just the right amount of angst and the issues of racism were handled so well by this author.

I loved Grip! He was so sexy and so confident and self assured. He knew what he was about and his love for Bristol made me SWOON! He held on to her despite other people telling him it wouldn’t work out. Bristol was such a strong, independent woman who didn’t take crap from anyone. She was a little frustrating at the beginning of the book because she kept fighting their relationship but it was only because she was trying to guard her heart and you get to understand why given her past.

This was more than a romance book. We get to see controversial topics surrounding race and socioeconomic status being viewed from different people in different walks of life. Very eye opening. I absolutely loved it!

Flow (Book 0.5) must be read before this book. While there is no cliffhanger in this book, YOU DO NOT want to miss out on Still (Book 2) which is my pick for best contemporary romance of 2017.

5 Stars!
