I read and reviewed this a few months ago on GR but I thought it deserved a spot on my blog because… Mariana Zapata… enough said.
Genre: Contemporary Military Romance
Heat Level: Mild
POV: Single (Heroine)
Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.
The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.
Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect.
What she didn’t count on was falling in love with the guy.

5 Ruron Stars!!!
Holy Moly! What a great book! The queen of slow burn romance has done it again!
Mariana Zapata’s books always leave me smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy. Dear Aaron was no exception.
Let me just say, if you are into instant gratification THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU. If you read Mariana Zapata’s books, you will know she is known for her slow burn romances. I think that this book may be her slowest yet. The MCs actually don’t even meet in person till about 60% and even then the are JUST FRIENDS till they become more.
I will admit that at about 25% I started to have my doubts about this book. The first half of the book is all email and skype IM correspondence. During this time the friendship between Aaron and Ruby really grows and develops. I do appreciate the time she took for these characters to interact as ONLY friends, even though it was done long distance. It really built a great foundation for their future romance.
Please don’t give up on this book because when the characters finally meet, it was AMAZING!!
I absolutely loved Ruby. She was so relatable to me. I could easily picture myself in her position doing and saying the same things she did. She was so insecure at times and is even a little awkward and dorky at times. Even before she met Aaron in person she realized that she was in love with him. However, when she met Aaron and realized that he was drop dead gorgeous, she never in a million years thought that he would be interested in her as more than a friend. I loved this part of the book. Everyone could see that Aaron was also in love with Ruby, EXCEPT Ruby. She was in so much pain and heartache thinking that he wasn’t interested in her and I just wanted to scream YES HE LOVES YOU TOO! AAGH! My heart couldn’t handle it.
Aaron was so patient and sweet and romantic and loving and I JUST LOVED HIM!!
There are very few steamy scenes in this book and of course it’s right at the end like at about 90% but what you will experience from this book is a heart that feels like it will burst from ALL THE FEELS and I promise you will be smiling throughout this whole book.
Highly recommended! And all I can say is when is your next book coming out Mariana Zapata. Need it now!!!
