I’m so happy to share with you my Top 5 Favorite Books of 2017! This is the 1st of five posts where I will reveal each top book in no special order. Each post will have a giveaway!
The first of my Top 5 Books in no special order is Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico. This is Book 1 in the Hard to Love Series but is read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.
Cam DeSantis’ life is a mess. How else would you describe losing your husband, your job, and your money all at once? Desperate times call for desperate measures. So when salvation comes in the form of one intolerable jerk, she has no choice but to accept his offer as a nanny for his eight year old nephew. Now all she has to do is find a way to ignore him for the next three months. Which is easier said than done.
NFL quarterback Calvin Shaw has zero interest in women. It’s not that he doesn’t like women. In fact, he loves women. He just doesn’t want anything to do with them. What he needs to do is focus on winning another Super Bowl before he retires. Problem is, the woman living in his house is a major distraction. And he doesn’t know what’s worse, that he promised to be civil, or that he’s attracted to her.
Best laid plans are going to get wrecked when a reclusive football star is forced to live with a reluctant nanny.
This book had so many amazing elements that I love in a romance book! First of all, if you follow my reviews you know that slow burn romances are my CRACK. From my reading experience, not all authors can pull this off. I need to feel engaged for the whole book even though the couple don’t get together till late in the book. Well this author did such a great job. I devoured this book! There was so much anticipation and when Cam and Calvin get together, it was absolutely explosive!
Of course the added element of this being a sports romance is also a plus. Calvin is a NFL Player and he is the definition of a brooding hero. Why do we love these guys? Not sure, but it works! He hires Cam as a nanny for his nephew and these guys start off not exactly on friendly terms but Cam needs the money and Calvin’s nephew connected with Cam immediately. These two end up living in the same house and the sexual tension was so palpable throughout this book.
Camilla was such a strong heroine. She was not intimidated by Calvin’s NFL status and she stood up for herself when needed. The banter between these two was so witty and fun. The progression of their relationship was done so well from sort of enemies to friends to lovers. I never wanted this book to end and is highly recommended from me!
