I started this series a few months ago and I have decided to make it a monthly meme this year and it seemed appropriate to make it the 1st of each month. Any fellow book bloggers please feel free to join in this meme. You have the whole month to participate in the current meme.
I loved the idea of the My First Ever Series because I wanted to acknowledge the books that laid the foundation for my love of reading.
So for this month I am highlighting My First Kristen Ashley Book: Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain #2)
To this date KA is still my most read author. I have read 18 of her books. She is definitely a foundation in the romance book world and if you are a romance book junkie then you have probably read one of her books and if you have not then you seriously need to get started! Her alpha male characters are unparalleled and you will love her unique writing style.
Lauren Grahame is looking to reinvent herself. After leaving her cheating husband, Lauren moves to Carnal, Colorado, and gets a job as a waitress in a biker bar called Bubba’s. It’s a nothing job in a nowhere joint . . . until Tatum Jackson walks in. Lauren has never seen a man with such good looks, muscles, and attitude. But when he insults her, Lauren doesn’t want anything to do with him. Too bad for Lauren he’s also the bar’s part owner and bartender.
When the rough-around-the-edges Tate meets the high-class Lauren, he thinks she won’t fit in at Bubba’s. Yet there’s more to Lauren than meets the eye, and Tate soon sets his mind on claiming her as his own. Before long, the desire burning between them is heating up the cold mountain air. But when violence strikes the town, Tate must reveal a dark secret to Lauren-one that may put an end to their sweet dreams.
Sweet Dreams is Book 2 in the Colorado Mountain series and can be read as a standalone. I read this book back in 2014 and I was actually quite hesitant to read it. At the time I had no interest in reading a book about a 42 year old woman just recently divorced. Well, I’m so glad I tried it because this book was spectacular.
Lauren has recently found out that her husband and best friend are having an affair and she leaves him and sets off to start a new life. She ends up in the small town of Carnal where she gets a job waitressing at a bar. There she meets the bar owner Tate, who is also a bounty hunter and overall a bad ass sexy alpha male.
Their initial interactions are quite funny. Lauren overhears Tate calling her old and fat and their attractaction was not instant. However when they do get together, the chemistry is off the charts. Tate is still one of my favorite alpha male heroes. He was overly possessive and endearingly protective of Lauren. Adding to that, he is a single father which makes him even more SWOON WORTHY!!
There is a lot of drama in this book and some suspense as a killer is on the loose in Carnal. I loved the whole town and all the secondary characters in this book. I went on to read other books in this series which I loved but this was my favorite. Highly Recommended!
