My First Ever is a monthly meme to highlight the first book that you ever read in different genres of romance. This is a great way to acknowledge the books that laid the foundation for your love of reading.
On the 1st of each month, I will post a different topic. You have the whole month to participate in the current meme. Please link back to Book and a Blanket in your post so others can find more information. You don’t have to be a blogger to participate. Just post your picks in the comments or use

This month’s topic is My First Ever Romantic Comedy
My First ROM-COM was Wallbanger by by Alice Clayton
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she’s gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor’s nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly…In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight…
At the time I read this book I was very ignorant about the different genres of romance books. So discovering a book like Wallbanger was quite eye opening. I never realized that such a sexy book could also make me laugh myself silly. The title and cover alone speak volumes. My first impression was that this was an erotic romance. However, what I discovered was a delightful, feel good romance that had me laughing so hard it was difficult to breathe!
Caroline has a new neighbour Simon who has a very active love life. Their apartments share a wall and she hears all of Simon’s “wall banging” activities. Caroline herself is not having a lot of luck in the love department. These characters have the best banter and with their group of friends, there were so many LOL moments.
There was quite a bit of anticipation as a there was a slow build up to the sexy times but the sexual tension was prevalent throughout the whole book. Even the sex scenes are hilarious! I just enjoyed this couple so much. I had a constant smile while reading this book. I did learn that books like Wallbanger are not meant for reading in public. Seriously, it’s impossible to control over the top bouts of laughter while reading this book! I’m so grateful for this book for opening me to the world of ROM-COMS, one of my now top GO-TO genres.
