I thought he’d always be mine,
even when I was forced to say goodbye.
We were never meant to let go,
but it happened anyway. Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would’ve held on a lot tighter. Two years later, we were exactly where we’d always planned to be. I’d kept my promise.
He’d forgotten all about his. Not only had he moved on, but the person he’d moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart. I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again. This isn’t that kind of story. My heart might have been broken, but it refused to fall out of love.
WARNING: this book contains cheating.
“You and me … like the moon and the stars, we’re permanent.”
Aaahh! This book was amazing. I was so engrossed and ended up reading it in a day. I love college romances, love triangles and small town feels. So this was book was basically made for me.
Quinn and Daisy grew up together and were best friends that eventually fell in love. Their love was so cute and sweet. They had eyes only for each other, finished each others sentences and experienced all their firsts together. They get separated in high school when Daisy’s family moves away and they drift apart.
The story fast forwards to college where they meet up again but Quinn is now with Daisy’s best friend. GASP! I know we find that out from the blurb but let me tell you, it doesn’t take away from the hurt and the shock as Daisy experiences it. The writing in this book was spectacular! I felt all the hurt and pain and awkwardness that these characters experienced.
The angst from this young lovers story had me on edge and my emotions were on overload! So many FEELS with this one! At the core of this book though is a beautiful romance that pulled on my heartstrings. I know a lot of people have problems with cheating in books (I am not one of these people) but while cheating is not condoned, I think you will be understanding of the events given the situation the characters were placed.
High recommendations for this emotional love story that took me through the wringer and left me with a heartwarming tale of young love.
