Book Review | All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

all your perfectsQuinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

This was absolute P E R F E C T I O N for me. I felt this book on such a personal level. CoHo just got everything right! Every feel, every emotion was real, raw and unapologetic. Her writing was flawless. My heart was held captive by this story from beginning to end. Let me be honest. This book will really really hurt!!!! But I loved that she didn’t play this down. This is very real problem that A LOT of couples face and Co-Ho kept it REAL!

This book alternated between the past and the present and the way this couple met was so unexpected and surprisingly hilarious and sad at the same time. We get to see them fall in love at the same time we see their marriage struggle. I love books about married couples. Marriages can’t survive alone on love. They take work and it’s not easy. This is not the fun side of love but it’s real life.

“What’s the secret to a perfect marriage?… No marriage is perfect. There were times when she gave up on us. There were even more times when I gave up on us. The secret to our longevity is that we never gave up at the same time.”

Seriously! How beautiful is that quote! This book is filled with so many noteworthy words of wisdom and hope and love and aargh! Co-Ho just brings ALL THE EMOTIONS out of me!!

I don’t know how to describe just how POWERFUL this book was. How can you feel so lonely while someone is sleeping in the same bed with you? How can you hate seeing the man you love? How can a couple so in love not bear to speak to each other? This book rocked me to my core and I still have not recovered.

I’m so so happy with how she ended this book. I was afraid she would have given us another ending, an ending maybe some people would have wanted. What we got was the realistic ending and not the fairytale ending and I am so flipping happy she did that. Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned but that doesn’t mean we still can’t get our happy ending. This couple took a while to get that but they went back to the beginning and remembered their promises to each other.

“I promise to love you more when you hate me than when you love me.”
