MY REVIEW

4 STARS

A great emotional slow burn romance filled with moments of swoon, laughter and heartache. This is the story of two people who had their world crash down around them and how they found friendship and eventually love with each other.

From the opening scene of this book we see a very broken Wynn who is struggling to cope and even from the start we find Lonnie instinctively needing to reach out and save her. Wynn’s struggles were absolutely heartbreaking and the author had me feeling her grief as if it were my own. She was so lost and despite all her close friends and family, no one saw the full truth of her pain except Lonnie. The connection between these two was so palpable. Not just on a sexual level, though that attraction was very much present. It went so much deeper and they understood each other in a way that others could not.

In truth, these two kind of saved each other. Lonnie has his own demons to face and Wynn became his rock. The attraction was clearly there from the start but their relationship was founded on friendship and the story takes us on a sweet slow burn as they allowed themselves to be open for so much more.

This book has some difficult moments including touching on topics of mental health. There were certainly some painful parts but watching this couple fall in love and build a family was such a beautiful experience. My heart was left full and I could not stop smiling at the end.
