Series: Sutter Lake #1
with elements of Suspense
A small mountain town where no one knows her seems like the perfect escape.
A man battling the ghosts of his past.
Walker loves his life just the way it is. His town, his family, his brothers in
blue. Everything simple and easy—until a chance encounter changes it all.
When Taylor’s solitude is interrupted by the rugged cop, they find that the
very thing they were avoiding might be just what they both need. As their iron
wills clash and passion flares…a killer lurks.
And you never know who might be caught in the crosshairs.
“I want you. You’re mine remember.”
“I’m broken Walker.”
“Well, then all your beautifully broken pieces are mine.”
Wow! Wow! Wow! I’m so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. This is my first book by this author and I was immediately drawn in by the blurb but I never imagined I would have had such an incredible experience with this story.
I am a huge fan of small town romances and this was just PERFECTION! Both the heroe and heroine have lost someone close to them and Taylor especially is hurting immensely. She carries around her grief and it’s like a weight that keeps her down. She separates herself from everyone to keep her heart safe.
Enter Walker and the Cole family who infiltrate Taylor’s life and she slowly allows her walls to fall and let them in. I love the small town way of life. People looking out for their neighbors and the sense of community and belonging.
Walker is immediately protective of Taylor and has a need to keep her safe. This local police officer, soon to be chief was sexy, with a confident persona but also tender and loving and not afraid to express his feelings for Taylor. Gah! I SWOONED SO HARD! I just love a man in uniform who is not afraid to show his emotional side!
There is quite a bit of mystery and suspense in this book that had me turning the pages like crazy to try and solve the case of a killer amidst the town. The story was riveting and unputdownable! I was completely intrigued! And wow, that ending! I was completely shocked! I did not see it coming.
I FELL SO IN LOVE with this author’s writing. Sometimes there are great authors who write average books and average authors may even write great books. This was an amazing author who wrote an amazing book. I cannot recommend this book enough! Top recommendation!
