A refreshing novel about a woman’s journey into the next chapter of her life after the end of her marriage. It has an unconventional love story and it’s probably one of the sexiest women’s fiction novel I’ve ever read.

While there is a romance within this story, this book was about our heroine Elsie. A strong female character who after 22 years of marrige and four kids, decides she wants something different in life. She realizes that over time she has changed and has fallen out of love with her husband. I loved the humor in this book as it relates to Elsie and her friends/ acquaintances who share their husbands’ annoying habits. These stories were seriously funny, some extremely gross but also were so real and relatable.

While Elsie is trying to find freedom after feeling trapped for so long, she finds herself attractcted to Kael, a man 12 years younger than her. Against everything she was taught to believe from her church, she engages in a sexual relationship that is just that. It’s just sex with no strings attached. There is something extremely hot about a younger guy being attracted to an older mother of four. I loved Kael’s sexy smirk and his infallible confidence and his raging attraction for Elsie. I fell for his Captain America charm, from all of his sexiness to his selfless acts of kindness and genuinely good-natured heart.

Elsie struggles with the shame of her relationship with Kael. In a smalll town that most people are highly religious and gossip runs like water, her sexcapades would clearly be frowned upon. Not to mention how their relationship would affect her children. Elsie and Kael both have similar views about relationships in that neither really believes in marriage at this time in their lives. They eventually find happiness with each other but are open to the fact that it may not be for life. They believe that some people that are a part of their lives in one chapter, may be gone in the next and that includes romantic relationships. I’ll be honest and say that I could not relate to this type of thinking and completely disagree with people unwillling to commit to a love relationship. However, I applaud the author for giving us an uncoventional love story with what I consider, a not quite HEA.

All the praise for this book’s honest take on marriage and relationships. It wasn’t particularly romantic or sweet but it was real. If you’re looking for something unique and a little different from the usual romance then I definitely recommend.
